「Grinnin' in Your Face」

御存知の方も多いと思いますが、"Son House" が手拍子で歌っている曲でございます。 ギターを弾き始めた頃、カントリー・ブルースを手当たり次第聴いておりましたが、この動画を観た時は結構衝撃的でした。 その後ブルースの深みに嵌って行くと、やはり基本はコレやわ～！と納得致します。



曲はブルースと言うべきか、ゴスペルと言うべきか、はたまたどちらでも無いような内容でございますが、聖と俗が絡み合ってるサン・ハウスらしい曲とも言えるかもしれませんね。 もしかしたら説教してるのかもしれませんなぁ。 （笑



色々な方が演られておりますが、"Little Axe" バージョンは "Rev. Gary Davis" 風とでも言いましょうか、ゴスペルチックなメロディーでこれも良い感じでございます。



私としては "Ruthie Foster" が歌っているのが最高やと思いますが、このお姉さんの感じがまたエエ感じでございまして、演る方によって曲の雰囲気がまるで違うのもブルースの良い所でございます。
